This impressive Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum), aged approximately 40 years, is a superb example of Japanese bonsai art in the Moyogi (informal upright) style. Originating from Japan, this tree displays a wonderful balance between power and refinement.
The very powerful trunk, with a substantial diameter of 130 mm, possesses dynamic, natural movement and excellent taper towards the apex. The bark texture testifies to its advanced age. At the base, an impressive, radial nebari (root base) measuring 27 cm wide spreads out.
The branch structure, clearly visible in its winter aspect in the photo, is well-developed with promising fine ramification. This offers a fascinating silhouette and a great foundation for further development over the years.
As a Trident Maple, this bonsai is known for its vibrant seasonal changes: the fresh green, characteristic three-lobed leaves in spring, a full green canopy in summer, and spectacular autumn colours ranging from yellow to orange and red. The winter structure is also highly attractive.
The tree is presented in an authentic, handmade Japanese pot (370 x 340 x 90 mm) by the respected potter Taizan. The understated colour and shape of the pot perfectly complement the tree's powerful presence and ensure a harmonious whole.
With its overall dimensions of 470 mm high, 470 mm wide, and 400 mm deep, this is a bonsai of substantial size that deserves a central place in a collection or garden.

Care:
The Trident Maple is a robust outdoor bonsai. Provide a sunny to lightly shaded, airy location. Acer buergerianum tolerates sun relatively well, but protection from the hottest midday sun in summer can prevent leaf scorch. Protect from severe frost (below approx. -5°C), especially the root ball. Ensure good watering; allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Regular pruning is necessary to maintain the shape and promote fine ramification.
Shipping:
Please note that trees can only be shipped to addresses within the EU and the United Kingdom, excluding destinations with phytosanitary standards differing from EU standards (such as Guadeloupe, Réunion, Canary Islands).
